Project Description
The KFDF is situated in Buhuka Parish, within Hoima District, covering an area of 3,612km². Its feeder pipeline traverses Kyangwali, Kabwoya, and Buseruka subcounties in the same district. Buhuka Flats currently host five villages, while there are 30 villages along the feeder pipeline corridor.
Originally, the Feeder Pipeline was planned to be at least 150m away from the end of the runway for Kabaale Airport. However, due to modifications during construction, the runway was extended beyond its original limits. Following consultations with Ugandan authorities like MEMD, CAA, MoWT, and UNOC, it was decided that the KF feeder line should steer clear of the KIP international airport perimeter fence to uphold airport safety and ensure the feeder line’s integrity.
To meet these requirements and minimize risks to the airport and pipeline operations, the routing of the KF feeder line within KIP needs adjustment for a shorter and safer route.
Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by ICS:
The main objective of the study was to find out how to reduce the potential interacting risks between the KF Feeder Line and KIP development by either rerouting the Feeder Line or improve the present design.
